Margaret Patteson has always been conscientious about maintaining good health, eating well and enjoying an active lifestyle.

Exercising regularly on her bike and trail running is a part of her routine. So health issues could not have been further from her mind as she set out on a beautiful Saturday morning training ride around Round Mountain Road in March with nine friends, including her husband, Stuart.

The Round Mountain Road cyclist route, which she was quite familiar with, offers stunning panoramas and 2,400 feet of climbing. The group chose the clockwise direction, which took them down Granite Road to Round Mountain Road, enjoying a fairly flat break before the hill began.
